Who we are
New Hope Fellowship is an independent, Bible-teaching church of about a hundred and forty people who love Covington and want to be useful here. We're farmers and nurses, plant workers and retirees, young families and folks who've lived on the same road for fifty years. We believe the good news about Jesus is genuinely good news — not a set of hoops to jump through — and we try to say so clearly and live like we mean it.

What we believe
We hold to the historic Christian faith: that the Bible is God's trustworthy word, that Jesus lived, died, and rose again to reconcile us to God, and that grace — not performance — is what puts a person right with Him. We baptize believers, take communion on the first Sunday of every month, and pray for the sick. We are convinced the church is meant to be a family rather than an audience, which is why so much of what we do happens around tables instead of in rows. If you have questions or doubts, bring them. Nobody here got in on the strength of having it all figured out.
Meet the team
Real people you can call by their first names.
Daniel Whitfield
Daniel spent twelve years as a high school history teacher in Newton County before helping plant New Hope in 2019. He preaches through books of the Bible, keeps a standing Tuesday lunch open to anyone, and answers his own phone.
Renée Whitfield
Renée oversees the nursery through fifth grade, trains our volunteer team, and is the reason the kids' wing smells like cinnamon. She and Daniel have three children and a stubborn beagle named Judge.
Marcus Bell
A retired logistics manager, Marcus runs Thursday distribution with the precision of a man who moved freight for thirty years. He coordinates with local growers and grocers so nothing edible goes to waste.
Tyrone Kessler
Tyrone leads music on Sunday mornings and cooks the eggs at Men's Breakfast. He's a welder by trade and believes men need two things regularly: hard truth and hot food.
